What is the Apprenticeship Path?
Not everyone starts with experience — and that’s okay.
At FreshCoat Works, we created a path for motivated individuals who want to turn effort and curiosity into skill and confidence.
As an Apprentice, you’ll:
- Work on real painting projects from day one.
- Learn directly from experienced painters and crew leaders.
- Earn a paycheck as you build your skills.
- Move through 4 levels of training with clear goals.

The 4 Levels of Apprenticeship
Level 1
Helper (Getting Started)
- Learn basic safety and job site rules.
- Handle preparation tasks: masking, covering, moving materials.
- Clean tools, organize equipment, and assist painters.
- Goal: Understand the work environment and build reliability.
Level 2
Junior Apprentice (Hands-On Basics)
- Start rolling and cutting under supervision.
- Learn brush control, rolling technique, and simple finishes.
- Practice cleanup and protecting surfaces without errors.
- Goal: Perform simple tasks with consistency and quality.
Level 3
Advanced Apprentice (Developing Skill)
- Take on patching, sanding, and drywall prep.
- Learn to set up spray equipment and more advanced tools.
- Increase speed and productivity while keeping quality.
- Goal: Work semi-independently with confidence.
Level 4
Lead Apprentice (Ready to Step Up)
- Deliver work at painter-level quality with minimal supervision.
- Support the crew and help newer apprentices.
- Learn basics of job planning and leadership.
- Goal: Be fully prepared for a Painter role, and on track for Crew Leader.
